Chaplaincy and Ethos Newsletter February-April 2025

Welcome

Welcome to our Chaplaincy newsletter, where we share the faith life of All Saints’ Academy.
At All Saints’ Academy, we believe that every student, staff member, parent, and supporter is uniquely made, valuable, and belongs here.

We believe that through community and learning, we are formed in character, knowledge and wisdom to be light in the world through excellence in service and leadership.

Bringing this vision to life takes all of us—teachers, students, parents, support staff, chaplains, and local partners—working together.

Prayer Week

Our first ever Prayer Week was a meaningful and reflective experience for the Academy, especially for our Key Stage 3 students, offering opportunities for spiritual growth and engagement.

Throughout the week, students participated in Prayer Space activities centred on the Lord’s Prayer. Students explored themes such as relationships, forgiveness, priorities, and influences, deepening their understanding of both personal and collective prayer. The interactive stations included writing prayers, washing stones, drinking healthy smoothies, and engaging in quiet meditation – allowing students to express their thoughts and emotions in a supportive environment.

Acts of Worship

Our collective acts of worship are at the heart of our Academy community. Each week, we take time to pause, reflect on Bible stories, and pray. These moments are part of a broader opportunity for students and staff to explore faith, engage in conversations about God, and reflect on who we are and who He has created us to be.

This Spring Term, we have been focusing on the Academy’s value of Reconciliation, asking ourselves: What does reconciliation look like for me?

Celebrations

This half-term, we will gather for our Easter Eucharist service, reflecting on Christ’s journey to the Cross. As a Chaplain, these services are particularly meaningful to me as they offer a glimpse into the Academy’s spiritual atmosphere. They provide a powerful opportunity for staff and students to engage spiritually, remember God’s work for His people, and take part in communion together.

Chaplains’ Cuppa

Each week, I have the privilege of serving tea, coffee, and sweet treats to our staff. These simple yet valuable moments create space for them to relax and be themselves. It’s amazing to see how a small act of generosity can have such a positive impact.

Partnership with The Rock

At ASA, we deeply value our partnerships, recognising that much of our work is made possible through the support and expertise of others. One of these key partnerships is with The Rock, a youth charity dedicated to transforming the lives of young people in Cheltenham. Their work includes supporting some of our youngest Academy members as they transition from Primary School into life at All Saints’ Academy.

Students at the Cathedral

Three of our student leaders had the honour of reading at Gloucester Cathedral during the special service for the installation of Revd Canon Katrina Scott as the new Archdeacon of Cheltenham. Our students demonstrated confidence and composure as they delivered their readings with great clarity, playing an important role in marking this significant occasion.
