Academy Production of Frozen Wows Audiences

For the first time in forever, we opened our doors to the public as over 200 of their students took the stage (as performers and backstage) to transform the tranquil views of Gloucestershire into an icy kingdom and the snowy palace of ‘Arendelle’. The Academy won a huge nationwide competition hosted by Music Theatre International and Disney where we were selected as the winners of the ‘United Kingdom of Frozen’ competition. Chosen for their courageous, bold and ambitious approaches to performing, alongside their ambitious but inclusive culture within the Performing Arts faculty, the staff and students of West Cheltenham put on a jaw-dropping performance night after night to a sold-out audience thanks to the tireless support from the community.

Executives from MTI and Disney attended our closing performance on Saturday evening where the feedback was phenomenal. Impressed by the audience’s immense response, MTI Director of Operations, Education & Development, Ryan Macauley, shared that he was impressed with the brave and creative staging that he saw on Saturday night and that he was most impressed with the amount of love and pride for performing that radiated through the students and the staff in the room. Music Theatre International and Disney share a love for entertaining and All Saints’ Academy’s students take performing for their wider community very seriously and it is always a great honour.

Director of Performing Arts Miss Baynham-Williams said ‘We would like to congratulate our academy students for the commitment, dedication, passion and elite professionalism that they showed on stage during every performance and we would like to extend our thanks to the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama design students for creating our wonderful puppets, set and bespoke Elsa self-transforming tear away dress that astonished audiences as it seemingly disappeared in front of their eyes, rapidly changing from the 1800’s regal deep royal blue Coronation dress into that iconic pastel blue snow queen sparkling mermaid fitting number.’

ASA’s ‘Frozen’ was certainly one that we hope did the Academy, Cheltenham and the region proud.

This recognition from MTI is a true testament to the strength of our Performing Arts provision and the inspiring dedication of both students and staff.

Congratulations to all the cast and crew for delivering an unforgettable experience and making this a proud moment in our Academy’s history.
