In July 2017, student’s attended the exciting Design Technology trip to RAF Fairford to visit ‘The Royal International Air Tattoo’, also known as the world’s greatest air show.
During the thrilling 4 hour flying display, students were able to see fast jets, giant transporters, historic aircraft and a breath taking synchronised display by the world famous Red Arrows. The students were able to safely stand meters from the runway in the exclusive seating area of the ‘Pimm’s flight deck’ so that they could see the wide range of aircraft take off and land. The intense sound was incredible and you could feel the power of the aircrafts through your body when stood watching the diverse flight displays.
Students even had the opportunity to meet real life aircrew members and ask as many questions about their jobs as they liked. The crew discussed what they do on a daily basis, specifications of the aircraft and even explained previous special visits to countries around the world where some crew on the medical aircraft performing lifesaving treatment thousands of meters in the air using their on-board facilities.
The air show also gave the ASA students the experience of a Techno Zone, an interactive showcase, the Vintage Village with retro memorabilia and dancing, the Autodrome and the Activity Zone. There was lots to do and see throughout the whole day so a fantastic day had by all!
